Default How far to hike in 4 days?

    These are my 2 options.

The distance on the Appalachian Trail between
    Rockfish Gap, VA and
    VA55-Linden, VA
    is 115.3 miles.
    Average miles per day: 28.5

The distance on the Appalachian Trail between
    US33-Swift Run Gap, VA and
    VA55-Linden, VA
    is 70.5 miles.
    Average miles per day: 17.5

I have hiked numerous day hikes in SNP ranging from 12-20 miles in 6 hours or less. So I am confident I can handle the 70 miles in 4 days. I am wondering if I should push myself and do the longer full SNP. I would technically have a little spillover, and could do another 12 hours if needed, just not ideal. I could also get picked up at 211 or on Skyline somewhere if I did not make it the entire way.

Also I will be skin out under 15lbs and less as the days go by.

    What does everyone think?

With all due respect, I think that if you have to ask if you can hike 28 mpd for 4 consecutive days on a forum then you shouldn't be scheduling a hike at that pace. If I was you I'd do the 70 mile trip but try to hike 28 mpd. If you able to do so, great, you'll finish early - use the remaining time to do an out and back or keep going and then hitch back.
