Default Want to hike NJ: how to get there & back w/ public transport from NYC?

    Hey all,

So I hiked the Virginia AT section earlier in the year and am itching to get back out. I have a week in October and, given I live in NYC, thought Jersey might be a fun and convenient hike.

My plan is to start from the Delaware water gap and hike northbound.

    1) Any ideas how best to connect with the AT around the DWG, using public transport from the city?
    2) How do I best get home to NYC, once I hit the NY/NJ border?

I've searched these forums, google, etc. for a few hours and can't really figure out what the best way to do this is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Mark ("Burg")

I'm not sure about the trip to DWG. There's probably a bus.
But as for getting to the NJ/NY border :
