Pat and Vickey were telling me about this yesterday when I was at the Doyle.

She saved my butt once a few years back......I was hiking through that area and I was sick as a dog! Vickey came and picked me up from a road crossing and brought me back to the Doyle so I could get some rest for a couple of days.

    Question

    Was alcohol involved?

Anyway, great story...with a happy ending, too.

not mentioned in the story, and making it even more special -- Vicky doesn't hike. She had never been on the trail in that area before going to find the guy.

Also not mentioned in the thread, this illustrates why, even on a routine day hike, you shouldn't go off unprepared for the unexpected. Not only did this guy not have any sort of light with him (cell phone does not count), he also wasn't carrying any water, Vicky told me.

She was a hero long before this. One of the finest person you will meet anywhere.

Blue Jay nailed it. P&V would do anything for a hiker in a jam; these are really first-class people and always have been.
