    Default Water in Southwest VA

    Hey there!
I'm taking my dad on his first ever backpacking trip and wondering about water situations. I'll be out the 15th or so of October, and we'll be somewhere between Pearisburg, VA and Daleville, VA.

Anyone know of water updates around there? Or suggestions of when to carry less water?

While I'm here, can anyone recommend a good 30ish mile hike somewhere between those two cities?

    Thanks! : )

South of of Daleville to the Tinker Cliffs and McAfee Knob is a "not to be missed" section, dinner at the Homeplace in Catawba (check their schedule), Dragon's Tooth..............pretty killer trip right there.

Though it has been "dry" I was just in that area 2 weeks ago and water wasn't hard to find. You go over plenty of creeks and streams and the water sources at the shelters were flowing. Much better than it was a few weeks prior.
