Just wondering where the cheapest place to buy a piece, not a roll, would be? Can you by just a piece at a hardware store? If not, where? Thanks in advance.

Construction sites often have pieces perfect for us backpackers in their trash. A buddy of mine is a builder and I asked him for some scrap pieces like 8 years ago. He gave me enough to last me decades.....and that was just off of one site.

I prefer kite Tyvek. It is slightly more expensive, but softer and quieter like cotton cloth. Has the same strength and properties. You can order it online from a variety of places or pick it up by the linear foot at Amazon. I bought enough to create about 4 ground covers for $30.

Just beware. I asked a contractor friend of mine for some, and got something (NOT "Tyvek" at all) that he also had dug out of a debris bin. It was full of holes and tears. Oh well, he had good intentions. Anyway, just a warning that contractors can be a bit clueless about our backpacking uses and needs.
