Default When is the best time to section hike Georgia?

I'm thinking late Oct. to late Nov. Spring = crowded, summer = hot, winter = cold. What are your thoughts?

Spring may be crowded but the native ephemeral plants in GA & NC in the Spring are a special treat if you're into native plants.

After about April 15th it won't be "that" crowded.

Actually, in mid May the flame azalea is spectacular. My fav month is Oct. Late Oct and Nov can be very cold at night, but it often isn't.

    Personal preference.

I prefer fall, because of the colors of the dying leaves. Wife prefers spring, because of the new plants coming to life.

I vote for early June. All the azaleas are blooming and also the Rhodadendron (sp?). Hiking in the mist of early morning, when the sun streams thru the Rodatunnels and the mixture of flower scents makes it seem you are on another, more majic planet.

I started on September 17th and finished Ga about a week later. I think it all depends on you. People I hiked with looked at me like I was nuts when I complained about the heat and the humidity and stated how I thought it was nice to hike in a warm rain. Apparently it was cold. But to a true Northerner, it was hot! But very beautiful. Leaves were just starting to change, so if you are looking for a color a few weeks later than my start date might be more colorful.

I am a teacher and cannot get there until about June 15th. Will these still be blooming?

Spring but it will be crowded is good . Summer is too hot for me anyway / fall is really good and winter is excellent. Did it for new years in 2009 and really enjoyed it.
