Valuable thoughts and advices. I read your topic with great interest.
FYI- I returned a pair of Vasque boots (Wasatch-$185) to REI after 25 monts b/c they are falling apart. Rei's policy is 100% satisfaction and I called them on the boots- no problem to return. Fact is -it was a bad batch from Vasque. This event reminded me about the difference between REI and EMS. I like EMS, good selection of stuff, but when it comes to a piece of critical gear I need a committed coop on my side, nothing else. EMS has no such policy. This tells me about the difference in motives for the 2 stores.
