Default Campsites near The General in the Swatara Gap area?

Looking for anybody who knows the arear well enough... I was looking for a spot to camp somewhere along the trail that goes back to The General. I have hiked that section6-7 times and never went to check out The General. Any advise? I know the spots along the AT between Rausch Gap Shelter and Yellow springs.

There are a few sites back through there, some not far from the AT. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot.

Bearing in mind this is State Game Lands where campsites can be used by point-to-point (not in and out or circuit) hikers only within 200 ft of the A.T. (source: http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/05...5/s135.42.html )...

There is a site near the top of the Cold Spring Trail that may meet these criteria (bring your tape measure) which is "east" and "north" of the junction of the A.T. and Cold Spring trail, not quite visible from the A.T. itself but well within 200'. There had been a fire ring here but that seems to have been removed. If you make the turn and start going down past the rocks you went too far off the A.T.

Water can be found (last Saturday it was over boot tops) down the General side trail. It appears some may have used a site in the rhododendron near here but not only is that too close (well within 500') of water, but it was pretty squishy.
