    Default Virginia Section Hike

I am planning on hiking the entire Virginia section starting in early July, should I start at the southern end or the northern end?

Going on the convenience factor , southern end is closer . By ending in Harpers Ferry you have transit options by Amtrak or shuttle services to a Greyhound Station in MD.
Also in Harpers Ferry you can visit the ATC Visitor Center and get your name in the section hiker catalog along with your smiley face.
Getting lost is a way to find yourself.

Damascus and head north but it will be hot and humid. Watch for ticks.

Southern end - relatively cool temps at the higher elevations around Mt. Rogers & Grayson Highlands.
