Anyone know if there is a dedicated IRC server for WB?
Anyone know if there is a dedicated IRC server for WB?
Nothing official but I think at one time or another unofficial chats have been set up. One could always use Skype if enough were willing.
If it were setup on the Afternet network, I'd be up for lurking around- otherwise I'd have to join up on different networks and I find that to be a pain.
I am intersested - what is this about?
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.
Woo
Not that anyone is there except me, but I have a channel setup on AfterNet.org named: #whiteblaze
I'll be lurking there for a few days if no one joins after that, or it doesn't get popular enough I'll stop lurking. Hope to catch others around.
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of hiking channels on IRC. The most populated channel I could find using searchirc is on Efnet in #camping, 8 users. If someone at Whiteblaze would like to pick and official location for a channel I would be willing to Op.
Why use IRC?
Didn't need an op, needed participants. Not a single other person showed up in well over a week. Not that I was surprised about that.
IRC allows people to see who's on the website (which WB already does), but instead of only being able to PM them, you can open a private chat window. It can be golden when a conversation is desired--keeping in mind that phone calls aren't always the most welcome idea to people.
Would it be worthwhile to create a poll and measure interest in an IRC for WB? or would it probably not happen regardless of interest?
No worries; we're here to learn.
