Awh Man, I was waiting for that news flash from Rutland Eyewitness News...." Florida man found frozen with Hawkin rifle on Pico Peak, details at 8"....so I could say...."Hey Jake, nay, nay, nay, nay, nay!

LOL, yeah too funny. I wasn't carryin' no Hawkin rifle... that Rutland headline might've read "Florida man found frozen on Killington with a backpack full of Little Debbies and moon pies".

I actually climbed that blue spur trail up to top of Killington anticipating finding a snack bar at the top (E2E guidebook says there's a snack bar there). I could smell the cheeseburgers. When got to the top, there were 2 very nice young ladies sitting there drinking a beer... I come over and ask "is there a snack bar here?" You should've seen the looks I got... "IDIOT TOURIST". LOL

It's going to get a lot easier after the climb out of App Gap.

Bahh.. i finished my weekend hike with Zeacliff trail in Crawford notch... 1.2mi was harder than anything on the LT by far. 1500' elevation drop "we don't need no stinkin ladders!" Think the stairs down to Rt 9 but no stairs

Jake: thats what I figured, and I believe you, it would definitely be a Quad burn going up! Shorten up your hiking poles and use 'em like ice axes!

I bailed too. Real early. My hip joint just stopped working around Congdon Shelter, NOBO. Locked up on the way down to Rte 9and I fell but it was OK because I landed on my head. Got a ride to Bennington and then home.

    Next year.

Welcome to the stairs at Rt. 9 club. I fell there too on my hike attempt in August. I bailed NOBO at Rt 4, but am going back next August to do a SOBO.

I did rt 4 to rt 2 in 2010. I've done it twice anyway nobo and Sobo, wasn't looking to do it a third. I wasn't interested in a thru hike, just a completion. Plenty for me.

How was the water supply? I'll be hiking lower Vt to Mass mid October.

I'd guess you should be fine. the lower half has a lot more steady sources than the northern ridges.

Mid October is going to be a bit clilly...but you won't see a blackfly or mosquito. Also, those road crossings will be full of leaf peepers. Make sure they see you crossing.
