In what part of KY do you live?

How many monkey butlers will there be?

One at first. But he'll train others.

What's everyone planning on doing for town/resupply stops? We are planning on....

    1. Morrisville
    2. Waitsfield
    3. Rutland
    4. Manchester Center

Probably head into Richmond as well for some pizza, figured Morrisville over Johnson as it's a full size town with motel and supermarket, restaurants, etc...

What are others planning on doing?

I haven't looked yet but I'm only planning on doing one or two resupplies.

I know some people who've hiked with 2 resupply:
    - Inn @ LT
    - Jonesville PO

Those are both directly on trail, or at least a side trail. I like showers too much for that : )

The Long Trail could be hiked in 10 days - that would be 27 miles per day with no breaks - seems like a real shame. Re-supply isn't that difficult - we did it in 25 days (including breaks) which was a nice pace - we could have easily pared that to about 19 or 20 days but the hiking is hard and it is beautiful - not sure why you would want to do it much faster unless you are an ultra-marathoner with some speed goal in mind. I believe that the Long Trail record is 4 1/2 days which is about 60 miles per day - good luck with that!

    This is easy:

    Manchester Center (easy hitch)
Inn at Long Trail ($5 shuttle from their door to Rutland)
Waitsfield (hitch) or Jonesville P.O. (choose one)
Johnson - grocery, laundry, and PO in same building
    done

really? - that stinks - we sort of camped out for the day in that laundry / thrift store - still a cool little town - I really liked the girl that ran the aroma-therapy, herbal healing shop -- do not, do not, do not, eat the chinese food in Johnson.

Yeah I'm with you mate...4 resupply stops, but will probably go into Morrisville over Johnson, they have a cheap (for Vermont) motel and a supermarket. Last time I hiked we did the 80 mile carry between Rutland and Jonesville...no thanks. Perhaps a last splurge at Bennington!

I agree. Im going to start on Friday July 27 out of Williamstown probably try to get to Congdon first day. I really love tenting on top of Glastonbury so that would put me at a pretty good day for my second day the shooting for somewhere between Stratton and Stratton Pond for day 3. I will def be staying at Green Mountain unless I just burn those miles in the morning really quickly. If I do, Ill just make it for Bromley but that one of those decision I can't make now cuz I just dont know how I will feel. Ill go into Rutland from Long Trail Inn so I plan on packing heavy for 4-5 days. Ill zero at Long Trail Inn with my wife. Im looking forward to hopefully taking a trip to the Brewery. From there Ill pack heavy and shoot for Waitsfield. Ill meet my wife in Jonesville and she will have a drop for me. She is going to join me for the end for a week so we have a really open schedule because we will have 5-7 days to finish so we can just take our time. We will resupply in Johnson and that should do it.
