Default A Quick and Dirty Guide to the Appalachian Trail

For a person planning the AT, sometime there is too much info. It is bit like drinking from a fire hose! This doc will attempt to make planning for the trail a little easier... Updated Feb 2012.

(What can I say..time to update my planning docs. Revising the docs in the past two weeks makes me want to hike the Tripe Crown again. )

Wow, what a brilliant article. Very concise and helpful. Thank you very much for posting it. I now have about 10 other tabs up that that lead me to that I have to go read.

Good stuff Mags. I also like Backpacker Magazines "American Classic- Hiking the AT" and "Pack Man: The Appalachian Trail Guru" articles.

Yours plus these two are pretty much all inclusive for the wannbe AT thru hiker.

    Cheers!

    Very concise

Yeah Jack's resupply article probably should be updated though, 5 years is a long time to rely on that, wonder if he will.

I still get hung up on the idea of the PO bit with maildrops. It just isn't the issue anymore like it used to be.

    Thanks for the update Paul,
I'd actually stumbled across your old post and the some of the links didn't work.

Thanks for the post! Is this the best/most current mail drops article for tips and recommendations, this is something that I have been trying to figure out for some time now for my thru hike.
