What would you make next?
I've made my stove, hammock, under and top quilt, pack and tarp. What would you make next?

Depends on what you need! Rain gear? Wind gear? Other clothes? First thing I made was the hiker's friend water filter (Jardine). I decided that I really like water filters in lieu of chemicals, and it looked like it would be lighter than anything else I could buy. Haven't tried it yet.

I think I'll retire the sewing machine for now. Clothes are a bit out of my league. I'm great with straight lines, but my sleeves or pant legs would make my ugly dog pretty.

I want to make a Cuben Tent. you can get 9 yards for about 200 bucks or a tent for 600.

If you want something that's more like a tent, you might be able to get him to make a kit of a tent he designed that's sort of like a Golite Shangrila 2.
Good job. Of course you can always make another stove.
Here are some advanced ideas, which I have never advanced beyond 'concept'.
1. Hand sewn trail shoes.
2. Light stove that burns 10g of vegetable oil in 10-20min without soot.
3. Anything that gets you on the trail more, and thinking/talking about it less.

The tarps look nice but I want a real tent. its not the critters that bother me about taps, its the wet ground and mosquitoes and ticks that I worry about.
I have a shape already designed I have even made a mock up using large sheets of scrap paper. I am just not sure about how to make high stress points like where you attach guy lines, or how to reinforce where hiking poles would go.
I also have this idea some how using polycro as a "sewn in floor" in such a was that it would be easily replaced. The material is also easily patch able with duck take, super light and pack able and only about $5. the MAJOR problem with it is that if and when it rips, it RIPS. just like a potato chip bag. I know the hexamid uses a ground sheet like a floor over mesh. I dont know if I like that. But a hexamid tent with a sewn in floor is pricey.

A cuben fiber tarp would be nice! I don't think the cuben stretches though. I used silnylon, mostly for cost, and it has a nice stretch through the ridgeline. I did do a cat cut, but if I were to do it again, I would sacrifice a few oz for more coverage. If you do a cuben fiber tarp, I'd use as much of it as you can. On my most recent hike, I brought a tent (there were 2 of us) and we used the tarp over the tent. It was nice to have the extra coverage outside the tent. You could make a tarp that is big enough to cover your tent, and just go with a mesh tent. That takes care of the critters and ticks, and keeps the weight down.

I am wanting to make a top hat for my golite pinacle, I need just a tad bit more room in it.
I'd probably cobble together a stove or longer staff in the future.
