    Default UL sil-ny & cuben tent/tarp manufacurers

I'm doing some research on mostly cuben fiber UL solo style tents/tarps. I'm leaning towards something more tent like with a tub floor and no see-um. From what I have seen so far from Six Moons, Light Heart and Bear Paw I could probably be sub 24 oz in cuben on a solo. My question to the forum is are there any other companies I should be looking at that are simular to the ones I mentioned?

Z Packs is usually mentioned but maybe not for you if you like a "bathtub" floor or a more tent like structure.

    another is HMG

but since I am with Tarptent , I would suggest that you also look at the Tarptent Notch.
26oz with stakes, can be erected fly or inner only or both together. ($259)

If you hike in an area with high wids or sand, you can get a partial fabric inner (instead of the mesh) for $15 more.

Hyperlight is well under you 22 oz goal. I think the 2 man complete setup with the "beak" is 1 pound 8 ozs

Check out Terra-Nova from the UK.
They have the Guiness record 1.1lb double wall one person. The Ultra.
Pricey but excellant. Lots of Syl-nylon tents too.

    Elder, I'm looking at the TN Ultra 1. In their limited desription of the tent they use this as the info on the tents fly material;
NOTE: This product is made from our superlight and strong waterproof ULTRA fabric. The lightweight nature of this fabric can cause unique patterns and inconsistency in its colour and shade. This is perfectly normal and does not affect the performance of the product in any way.

Do you know if this is Cuben?
    thanks

Hi Franco, I noticed on tarptents site that you are the Australia contact, thanks for responding to my question earlier. I have another question to go along with what I was looking at on TT site. I didn't see any description on what material TT uses and the material weights. Can you help me out? Thanks...

The TN Ultra is made with Cuben , don't know what type.
There is a good review of it at BackpackingLight also comparing it with some other similar shelters but you need a subscription to see it :
    http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-...nt_review.html

BTW, note that the apex is at 34", so depending on your size and the mat you use it may or may not work for you.

The TT material is described in the FAQ (in the About dropdown menu) the fly fabric is :
Roofing High tenacity 1.1-ounce/yd2 ripstop nylon, impregnated with silicone. Final fabric weight is approximately 1.5 ounces/yd2.

Sorry to keep on with this Franco, I was a little confused with your response. Is the Notch made of cuben with Sil-ny as a fly or is it completely cuben?
    thanks again

Thanks Jeff, it took me a minute to understand what Franco was saying. For the price of the TT notch it definitely must be sil-ny.

Tarptent doesn't offer anything in cuben.
