Now your speaking ancient history. I've only heard of punch cards on that list. Are those the machines for printing the first mass produced Bibles?Originally Posted by Old Hiker:1257733

rastraikis are you sure you've watched Preppers? One thing they do stress on from time to time is ensuring that your drinking water is clean and bacteria free. You're not going to get very far if you drink some Giardia filled water on your first day out. My suggestion is the Katadyn KFT Expedition Water Filter. It filters out ALL pathogenic bacteria and protozoa and can filter 26,000 gallons of water before you have to replace the filter. Sure it costs $1000 and weighs almost 12 pounds but this is your health we're talking about. You can't skimp on things like this.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rd_i=706814011
That's a good point, Slims. You just can't be too careful when it comes to protecting your health. Come to think of it, I didn't see a first-aid kit on rastrakis' gear list. This one looks suitable: http://www.med-electronics.com/Mobil..._p/hf-acls.htm. It's fairly complete, and even designed to be mobile. Look, it has wheels! He can rig up a harness and the llama can pull it instead of having to carry it on its back (thus freeing up room for other gear).
dont forget the MRI.you may not be able to get to town soon enough to diagnose.
I just do a shot of bleach each day. Problem solved.Originally Posted by slims:1258026

If you can't be serious I'm closing this thread down. I came for serious advise and I get flamethrowers. What do you think I am a boy scout clearing sunflower seeds from the trail?
I got the new 10 essentialsOriginally Posted by ChillyWilly:1258238

5) $1000 budget for food & fuel

7) T-Shirt with "Its just walking"
8) Unemployment info
9) 1 Gallon of bleach
10) Cigarettes - multi use also
Now that's no way to talk to people who are giving you good advice! Look, I've loaded up my pack and walked around the block with it at LEAST three times, which clearly means I know a lot more about thru-hiking than you do. You need to drop the attitude and listen to those of us who have a lot more experience than you do, even if it means listening to us tell you things you don't want to hear.
it suddenly occurred to me you've forgotten oral hygiene, might wanna bring one of these along:
No! I Got that gallon of bleach. That should cover oral hygiene.Originally Posted by hikerboy57:1258750
No need for the dentist chair, the shelters have those.
