Default Compressing a tent, good idea?

I know there was a thread on this about a year ago but I can not seem to find it anywhere so I will ask again.

Is there any concerns or drawbacks to putting your tent in a stuff sack and compressing it? If not why don't any of the manufactures include stuff sacks with their tents? Would love to hear back from someone who has done this for extended periods to know if it had any negative impacts on your tent.

Now I'm not saying don't compress your tent, but if you do here's what you may expect.A "brick",in your pack that does not conform to empty space and there by actually may take up more space. And the possibility that the stitching will fail or the seam sealing. Now if you are going to compress a sleeping bag and this happens(failed seam)rest assured you can sit in your dry(uncompressed tent) to mend it.JM2C

there is little point in compressing or dry sacking a tent.
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I have a silnylon single wall tent. It has a generous silnylon sack that lets it squish around as needed to make room for other gear. The sack is good for keeping the wet tent from getting other things wet. I don't think rolling it up into a cylinder would be a good plan. I used to have a Clip Flashlight (remember when those were considered lightweight gear?). That one I rolled up and put under the top flap of my external frame pack.
