This topic needs to be permanently placed in the humor section. It is astounding and hysterical that anyone cares at all what other hikers do, let alone cyberhikers who mostly have never set foot on the trail at all. There are no "purists" anyway because Bob Peoples and many others adds a mile or two before you even get to Maine.
