Default 2 month section hike in July

I am planning a 2 month section hike in mid July and would like to start at Springer. I live in FL and am used to heat and humidity. I am wondering about how many other people will be at the shelters and on the trail this time of year?

I was surprised at how many people were on the trail in the South in mid-summer. Not thru-hikers, but sectioners, church groups, Scouts, etc. I would expect the shelters to have people most nights.
