Default New York - Harriman Section Hiking This Weekend

    Hi WB,

Anyone here out on the trail around Harriman State Park this weekend? I'll be camping at William Brien shelter most likely.

Better plan would be to camp on ridge of Black Mt. there's plenty of good sites up there, Just fill your H2O before you head up / The WB shelter area is a crap hole and gets super busy on weekends
I'll be heading into the Park woods Friday evening, Not sure where I'll be heading thou

That was pretty much my goal for the day plus it was the first time I'd covered that section. I normally head into Harriman if I'm doing a hike in that area, but I liked this hike a lot. Agony Grind was quite a start to the day and the Cat Rocks and Eastern Pinnacles were fun. Taking a NJ Transit bus to get back to the city was not fun at all though, it took almost 3 hours when the ride up was an hour and 10 mins.

LOL..... Either at the start or end that The Grind area for sure is not a fast moving area / Cat Rocks is a nightly hike for me, Give a shout the next time your heading to Harriman,

Did you get a chance to hike ??? If you did Hopefully you didn't head towards West Mt. with fires burning .......... It's pretty crazy but 30 years ago, we had the same conditions, and it just about destroyed the whole park, there's still lots of scars from it if you look at certain areas

I've got some relatives who live not too far from the park, so I heard about the fires and didn't go up. Lots of fires out east on Long Island too.
