Bizarre to say the least. Not very practical for backpacking however, 5-8kg for a 2 person structure.

Wow Juice, you’ve obviously missed the boat (or overhead hanging ark) here.
This isn’t hard to understand:
Only 16+ lbs
Needs a small engineering team (ideally with 2 - 18 ft. ladders) to hang
Only requires 6-8 hours to set up with plenty of bandages to tend to injuries
Once drenched by a 20 minute rain would only require 12 days of desert-like bone dry days in the direct sun to dry.
Could comfortably sleep 1.5 persons with plenty of room for over 500 balloons.
This is just too funny! I could hear the phone conversation now:

Looks like a gimmick to me...the only place I would want to try this is if I were setting up a permanent base camp in a jungle type environment. Not sure how practical it would be.
But then again I'm not a huge fan of hammocks anyway. I've got one in my front yard that I use in the summer time to take naps, and I find that if I use it on too regular a basis its just not comfortable to me after awhile...I'm a side sleeper and just find it hard to sleep in the shape of a banana.

Actually, though, it's not THAT much of a conceptual stretch from a "full" geodesic to this...but only for a base camp. I rather like it.

I'm just going to say it...this is incredibly dumb.
On the 3 person+ I'd argue that it would be tough to find 3 trees perfectly placed (IE no trees in between where you have to tie off and spread apart at a good enough distance) to set up.

Never mind, it doesn't tie off to trees.
But I still think it's stupid.

I actually made one of these this winter. I downsized it to 10 ft sides. Still to heavy for backpacking, but fun. And very comfortable.
I have this bookmarked... but for a family basecamp. It's still lighter than our huge 10 man Kelty tent... that sleeps 6. ROFL. We could totally all squeeze in one... right?
