    Default 1.1 vs 1.7

After much deliberation I finally decided on purchasing a WBBB; though I'm having trouble figuring which to go with. I am 6'2" 245lbs so I fall just between the max flatness ranges. I'm going with either the Blackbird Double Layer 1.1oz or the 1.7oz. Which would likely provide the most comfort for a guy my size? I'm currently leaning towards the 1.1 simple to save myself the 9oz~ of pack weight. Any input would be of great help

You should post your inquiry over at Hammock Forum. You will get many more opinions there.

1.1 .. save the weight .. if you hike long enough you will be at the 225 max flatness weight. Very nice hammock. Don't have one in my collection yet, but may some day.
    Backpacking light, feels so right.

couscous may be correct, but I would suggest shooting an e-mail to Brandon, (Warbonnet Guy) and getting his input.

I am 5'10 and about 230 and the 1.1 dbl works fine for me, but getting the word from the guy who makes them would be best.

Great idea I did and WOW! what a fast response time!

"i'd say you could go dl1.1 if you're looking to save some weight you'd be comfortable in it i think, the dl1.7 would probably be slightly more supportive for you and maybe slightly more comfortable, but is heavier."

Though other reports from hammock forums from guys about my size are reporting the 1.1 left them with a persistent calf ridge line that they couldn't quite get rid of completely, that led to it being quite uncomfortable.

I have been cutting weight from so many other options that I think I might splurge on the 9oz~ on this one (ouch!) for the sake of being comfortable for the next 4 months

Brandon just recently updated the website and this is what it now says.

    225-250 LBS: double 1.0, double 1.1, double 1.7
Choose double 1.0 or double 1.1 if looking to go lightweight. In this weight range the double 1.7 will provide you slightly more support, choose double 1.7 for maximum comfort and double 1.1 if you're weight conscious at all.

If it were me I would try the 1.1 to save the weight. If you end up no liking it it will sell VERY quickly on hammockforums.

I weigh 280 and and have been using the 1.7 double for a several years now. Very comfortable. The double layer is great at keeping a foam pad in place if you opt to use one instead of a Under Quilt.

I am 6'4" 215 lbs. and have been using the 1.1 double for about 6 months now. I think it's great and very comfortable. If you are weight conscious go with the 1.1.

I second 1.7 single, even though I own an 1.1 dl.
