Default Under Your Skin - Movie

Ok. So I just sat down to watch this documentary movie, about Lyme Disease. Id like to hear your thoughts on the movie. If you have not seen it, its on Netlix, and Amazon. It it VERY eye opening, and pretty scary.

I check daily when on the trail or camping. Yet I admit to not doing it when cutting grass or working in the yard.

It angers me that the medical community looks the other way.

My dad got Lyme Disease 16 years ago; none of the doctors knew what he had, and it took over a year to diagnose. By then, it was too late to treat (the antibiotic wasn't around yet)... he probably got his tick bite when we took a walk down the road (past some long grass). Not surprisingly, ticks really freak me out.

I haven't seen the movie yet but it's on my list.

I have had many ticks on me in my life, but never contracted Lyme. Or, maybe that IS whats wrong with me, I just think its old age.

I have been very ill from lyme more than once. Still having troubles...but it is a nightmare getting doctors/specialists to think out of the box and really listen to me.

I finally had my husband watch this with me. Now he understands what I am fighting against. Treatment when you have been treated once already is about impossible to obtain.

Been working my way through various alternative protocols...and pretty much praying for a break through in more accurate testing.

Doxycycline is the most prescribed antibiotic for treating Lyme disease - and most effective taken ASAP once the bacteria is contracted.

It is CHEAP and EASY to get which is why distance hikers (or anyone spending a good deal of time outdoors) should have on-hand, ESPECIALLY hiking the eastern USA.

Tick education / management is the first line of defense. It's also very helpful to understand what vegetation harbors ticks and what to look for.

I have a page dedicated to this BUT it's very rough at the moment (and somewhat long).
I am including a small write-up later tonight adding Picaridin as a potential DEET alternative.
