Cool Dante's Inferno In a Can

I made a wood burner out of a lage #10 can. 1st time with this size can. Needs improvements but turned out ok for 1st try.

Any of you made one similar to this?

I messed up on editing my video clips but you'll get the basic idea how it turned out.

I had to remove the pot of water because the stove started smoking too much. Pot supports need to be 1 inch taller.

I'll make revisions and do another video when it's fine tuned

Zelph...you would have had a great career as an arsonist!

That thing looks like it'll rip your pack to shreds! Foldable models are so much more convenient.

That's a "rocket stove" - same basic concept used worldwide for many people's everyday cooking and heating needs. I made one out of a Newcastle mini keg. Some cans and perlite for insulating the big can. Never intended to be a backpacking stove, but it was fun to build and run. Once heated it sounded like a small jet.

That's what I thought. Might be fun to pull out and show all your buddies when sitting around, roasting a pig, and drinking beer.

One thing I've noticed over the past 2 years is the hammock hanging groups are gathering on a regular basis to hang in a location close to a parking area. They are doing car camping using hammocks as their place of rest. Hikers are going on three nighters not far from where they parked their cars. They are carrying a great deal of non lightweight items. I do the same thing.

We car camp more than we hike long distance? What do you all do when you're not hiking? You go camping and hike the local trails for a few hours and return to base camp. If you are not doing it that way, you're missing out on a lot.

This stove is work in process. I'm in a learning mode. This is my first "rocket" stove of this size. I made a small one out of a "Spam" can and soup can.

This one will have all the goodies that wood burning stovers/stovies like..........double walled and so called gassifiying capabilities. It will simmer also Have the ability to "choke" it down.

heheh, I missed my calling as an arsonist

It does look a little dangerous to carry. Pretty cool though.
I made a copy of the caldera cone out of some aluminum flashing. It's like a giant knife. I had to roll it up and stick it in a big plastic cup...

No, it's just a goofing around version. The ultralight one was made with a spam can and veggie can. There are a couple of youtube videos of that one floating around somewhere. I'll see if I can find them

    Found them:
