Lightbulb Maybe a 2013 early Meet & Greet

Just an idea, one that I do not think has taken place before!

What about a "Meet & Greet" for the Class of 2013, sometime during mid 2 late summer, somewhere along the AT.

I realize, some folks will live to far away, and that work, etc., will prevent some percentage from attending, but heck, just an idea.

We could meet one another, form a bond early and disucss our planned upcoming Thru

    Good idea.

I'd recommend picking a day and time and confirming if a handful of hikers commit to the meet and greet. My availability is pretty variable.... but I'd go if able.

    Good idea
I would suggest the Delaware Water Gap bc it's a real easy place to get to using public transit from NYC and NYC is a real easy place to get to from anywhere

The ALDHA Gathering held in Athens, WV this October 12-14 is just what you are looking for. Every year there are a dozen or more future thruhikers attending. Centrally located this year and always a great event for hikers.

IMO the crowd here would over-shadow the meaning of our get together. The crowd would just be too large! I will contact our local AT club to see if they would be interested in hosting and/or assisting in this Meet & Greet.

C'mon. Perth isn't even halfway around the world.
I'm not really a hiker, I just play one on White Blaze.

Perhaps somebody more technically savy than me could Skype you via their phone! Of course, you are nearly one day ahead of us so we'd have to take that into consideration .....

I'll vote good idea also. How about somewhere around the halfway point. How about Harpers Ferry. Could hang out around the ATC for a bit, do some pic taking and go from there. Could wind up being a really cool time. Just my thoughts.

Excellent suggestion. It has been done before (2003) with awesome results.--Kinnickinic

I'd certainly love to, but I live in Cali so it's a bit far for me - guess I'll just have to meet and greet you all on the trail next year...
