Default Worried About Lyme Disease? It's the Acorns!

A recent study by the Cary Institute links acorns and the mice population to the unprecidented increasse in Lyme Disease.

Basically it happens this way- when the mouse population increases due to abundant supplies of acorns the ticks target the mice. However when the mice population falls due to lower acorn supplies, ticks look for other hosts to feed on- humans!

    Now you know.

So the obvious solution is to build more shelters, which will result in lowering the rate of Lyme Disease.

The first obvious one is Lone Wolf Shelter in southern VA. Others?

Increase the population of bobcats and coyotes. Maybe more owls, but they are such a pain in the ass already.
The trouble I have with campfires are the folks that carry a bottle in one hand and a Bible in the other.
You never know which one is talking.

Apparently, the rise of coyotes in the Northeast has lowered the fox population. The net result is a rise in the rodent population; I guess coyotes eat fewer mice than foxes do. It's thought that this has increased Lyme disease. So, it gets complicated.

Snakes are a good way to keep the mice population down...according to a TV show I saw recently.
