HB, no gore-tex on this pair, but they still do not dry as fast as I would like (thinking that in addition to weight is plus for trail runners, while hiking shoes might provide better support and more protection).
Thinking of trying out some New Balance MT1110 for a couple of weeks before I head off to Hot Springs-Dalesville/Waynesboro in July. Figure if they fit OK here, then they should last a month (~ 500 miles). Can always use the Chameleons again when I hit the rocks in future summers in places like PA, NH, ME. Or if I love the trail runners so much, maybe I just budget for replacing them more often. Seems like a reasonable plan for this summer. Or am I missing something?

I have been looking.......I'm old and stubborn.......I really have been looking to replace my leather Garmonts, they were and still are THE most comfortable thing I've ever had on my feet. I would wear them every day if I didn't want to wear them out! But, I'm looking!
