Under Armor uses silver nitrate. Those of us who are allergic to silver can't wear it. I've tried - it was like 1000s of tiny needles all over my skin. My husband is not allergic and yet he gets a similar reaction to UA - it makes him itch everywhere it touches. So I won't be trying anymore clothing using this technology. I also can't wear spandex (blisters my skin) and it's getting more and more difficult to find shirts that aren't "fitted" using spandex. I like straight polyester that feels like cotton, the way REI Tec Tees for women used to be. Northface made them for men and I could wear the Small size - now they don't have them either.

I think Mike Rowe should be given a shirt and test this product....I also through my shorts in the ring, thanks for posting Woo, I look forward to trying this out, as all my shirts stink to high heavens no matter how often they are washed, and that ain't cool.

Interesting how this same technology is also used in water treatment, and many others...I Love Science!

I'm very curious as to how a synthetic shirt treated with this would perform relative to Merino wool for the stink factor. Also a Merino shirt treated vs. one not treated.

my sister is the patent holder of a few medical products including one which uses fabric from a military supplier that has the same patented odor shield (I believe). At the time she starting using the fabric, the only other licensed uses were hunting and military. Now the good part, the patent is owned by a Martha Stewart company

I have some high end swiss compression gear that is impervious to smelling. I've gone weeks in one pair on the at and they smelled like I just bought them when I got back home.

Interesting statement - Bed bugs find us with the incredible smell-and- resonable vision... so when I check an early infestation in a bed I only have to check two places - near the feet and ankles - and the face - where they pick up on carbon dioxide and other triggers.
