The work on this shelter was supposed to be finished next week. Does anyone know if it will in fact be open on 1 September?

We're trying, Moldy, we're trying.
If all goes according to plan this weekend, we should have the new roof installed, which will mean that, even if the work isn't quite done, the shelter would be usable in a pinch. The project's chief carpenter has been leading small, impromptu work trips for the last 2 weeks to try to get some of the "standard" construction done so that the big weekend work trips can concentrate on "major" stuff. And ATC has been helping out in "little" ways - like getting our cement and shingles moved up on site and hauling out some of the demolition debris!
If you're planning on coming up from Tennessee and spending the night, don't change your plans just because of a little construction debris! Just sweep the dust off of the deck and have a good night.

Thank you for the update, I will check it out in early September.
Okay, here's the latest word-->
The roof is finished, and the shelter is "usable".
We got rained on today, which was a good thing, because it showed us where we have a water infiltration problem that was not anticipated. We did a "quick fix" that should temporarily solve the problem, and we are discussing ways to permanently solve this.
There are a few other "little" things that I'd like to see happen here before we put this project to bed, but we'll see how much work we can get done before hunting season starts. BTW, the first of the hunting seasons will be starting in September, so don't forget to wear blaze orange when you get up here.
