its occurred to me more than once that these may also be the same people who say stuff like hiking from williamstown to manchester takes 5 or 6 days.

Actually I carry a 30 lb pack for cooler starts. I had that much this summer anyway ridgerunning with all the extra gear I had to carry

I plan to take my 15 degree bag. I thought about my 25 degree, but I can get cold easily, and I prefer my sleep.

Blissful added her opinion based upon her experience just as 10K and other have and yes my GMC truck does have heated leather seats and I enjoy them very much thank you. I totally agree with the last portion of your post. "Everyone has their own comfort levels. HYOH."

It's a lot of work and very frustrating to live under the illusion that everyone would be happy if they would just listen to me.

    It's worse than carrying a 30# pack...

I agree, it is lovely. My step sons weather station on the deck says 56% humidity, and 52 degrees here on Long Island Sound.

Jake, my wife has decided her trail name will be "Overload". I even have to take stuff out of her pack when we go out. Last winter I would carry a thin summer bag, and my bag to put under her.....not this year.....she has a few miles on her feet now. She wants it, she carries it.

On my 1990 thru-hike i started out with a bag rated to 40 degrees. I started May 5 and was fine up until the White mts. On sept. 7 1990 i set up my tent on a platform near the full Kingsman pond shelter and had a very cold night. The tempature droped into the 20's and i was very cold so when i got into North woodstock i called my brother and had him send me a bag rated to 0. i picked it up in Gorham and I was toasty each night for the rest of the hike. On sept. 28 the temp. got up to 75 degrees. Had to sleep on top of my bag that night at Horn pond lean to. Went on a hike 10 years later on the last week of Sept. north of gorham and had snow each day. Late in the season I always bring my winter bag now.
