No luck. Anybody know another good shuttle in the area?

Mike at the terrapin station hostel. 540-539-0509 Don't know if he's still around as he was trying to sell the place earlier this year.

FWIW, last November (Friday after Thanksgiving), I hitched from Compton Gap to Swift Run - a longer distance than you're seeking. If you need the ride on a weekend, try hitching.

+1 on the hitching. Last Fall we were headed from the Central to North sections of SNP and picked up a hiker. Shouldn't be difficult.

Hitching can or cannot work. My hubby couldn't get a ride to save his life. But you are at a popular hiker parking lot at Marys Rock - you could ask for a ride. May take a few rides though.

I'm heading to SNP that same day - but am entering at Swift Run and heading to Loft Mountain. But yeah, hitching shouldn't be a problem. We had to "pop smoke" on a section hike last year and flagged down a ride 30 seconds after reaching the road. It was a wild ride though! The driver was some Russian guy who was constantly taking pictures while swerving around the curves. He was excited about the pictures he'd recently taken of a UFO and then he showed us a video of his MEAT! (He was a butcher... what were you thinking?)

Hiked some there this past spring. Shuttles from the towns are very expensive because its such a long drive. There was two of us and since the AT crosses Skyline Drive so many times we ended up dropping one of us off and the other driving ahead and parking. We hiked alone and passed the car keys off as we passed each other on the trail.
