    Default Fall Foliage report

Not a whole lot of color up here at the moment, but that could change tonight as they are calling for a hard freeze tonight (temps in the 20's, burrr). It's looking like next week will be at or near peak color in Northen NH and Maine.

Time to take a few days off and head for the hills. It's a narrow window to have peak color with great weather and next week looks to be it. I'll be heading over to Maine for a few days hike starting Monday. (RT 17 to Grafton Notch)

Saw Maine color change just this week. One very cold night last week brought out the reds and yellows like crazy!

Should be peaking in southern Vermont about then. Just as long as we don't get another storm with high winds around then - that can change everything overnight.

Its beautiful here in Central NH. Each day gets prettier. Hope there will be something left in the Mahoosucs weekend after next. Still should be beautiful regardless. Great time to be in New England. Lots of talking about how much snow we may get this winter.

I was over in the Mahoosucs on Sunday 9/24 on Sunday River Whitecap. There was some color but nowhere near peak conditions. A bit cool out up on the ridge line.

Still not quite peak colors in the Whites yet, but getting close. I'm heading out this afternoon to start a 40 mile or so hike in Maine. It's definately getting nippy in the mornings and getting dark early.

Central VA doesn't have much color yet... nothing much on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It got down in the 40's last night... brrrr.
