Default Ideas for after my Thru-Hike

My girlfriend and I just finished our Thru-Hike on Sept. 17th (YAY)!...And like so many other thru-hikers out there, we are looking for our next adventure/job.

I am starting this thread because I want to hear some of your ideas/suggestions.

    Thanks for posting!

PS: Does anyone have any use for a couple of people with strong legs and weak arms this fall?

Did you see the post about the "hostel" in Berlin, NH? That post was talking about the fact they were looking for people to work there... I'll go back and see if I was remembering correctly... Congrats on you and your gf finishing your hike!! YAY!!

Yes, I know that's why I put "hostel" in quotes. Great to see that you are on your toes today! Gotta keep HM in line. Hope things are well with you....I met someone that knows you. I heard about a lot of good deeds you've done for hikers over the years... humm... sounds like some kind of awesome trail magic going on with LW... just sayin. Thanks for grabbing the link!

I like the ski resort idea. that will get u through several month of getting yourself together while still being outdoors having some fun. Then there is always REI Cabelas or something like that.

Go some place warm and teach English as a second language to support yourself, perhaps?

Thanks Hikermom! It's not an agency either, they simply provide info on cool jobs with openings now. I have found work through the site before,, no hidden catch.

Build up your arms by paddling the Mississippi. A couple of thousand do the AT every year, maybe a dozen or so do the Mississippi.

You might be interested in doing a hitch with a conservation corps. There's the SCA and CCC that I've worked with, and I'm sure there are many others.
