    I hung my food the first night on the trail, even had a large can lid attached above the rope to keep mice from climbing down. Next morning the bag was on the ground and mice had eaten a hole in the bag and feasted on my food, slept with it there after, figured I was more likely to starve than have a bear attach. If you hang or sleep in the open I recommend a kevlar bag, which I didn't realize they made until I saw a friend's on the trail.

    think sleeping with your food would be the best option you can have.
