    Default White Blaze Cake

I got bit by the backpacking bug this summer and went on a 65 mile section hike of the AT. Recently my one friend and fellow hiker celebrated his birthday. So in honor of him and our trip I made this cake (and yes, it really is a cake and its all edible). I decided to come share it on this forum since I thought other backpackers would enjoy seeing it. I'm not familiar with these forums so I'll post the picture and the link in case one doesn't work.

I do sell cakes and I'd take your money but unless you want to hike to Ohio and pick it up I think we might have a problem... :-(

Thank you everyone, both for the complements and for the welcome!

Even though I've only backpacked once, I loved it and I may stick around on this forum, who knows? Should I start a whole line of backpacking inspired cakes? lol

While I love both backpacking and cake decorating I do think it would be a bit tricky to do both at the same time...

Wow, I scanned your FB page; you are very talented. Is there a blue blaze to Ohio?

Wow, someone else on here who knows cake lingo? The bark is chocolate, but not modeling chocolate. I melted the chocolate and spread it all over the cake. Then I used more melted chocolate to attach other pieces of chocolate bark that I had previously made.

I'm a regular chef. My brother is a pastry chef. It's hard to tell in a picture what kind of chocolate is used. Great work!

That cake is really cool. I'll bet I could eat it in one sitting.
