Default Hunting in NY and VT

Does anybody know the hunting rules and regulations for NY and VT for 2013? I'm doing a thru-hike of the NCT next year and I will be in the Adirondacks around Sep. 30 and on the Long Trail/AT between Camel's Hump and Clarendon Gorge in early October. What is the hunting schedule and rules for this section of the trail? Do I need to be concerned with hunting at this time or worry about trail closures?

Unless we get another Irene situation over here, I think you should be fine closure wise.
Ny DEC has info regarding hunting seasons, and finding a vt hunting calendar is easy to find on the web too. I doubt they have '13 dates set, but they shouldn't differ too much from this year

In VT you will be hiking through bow season. You might want to wear a little orange to be safe and courteous but I generally worry most about rifle season which doesn't start until about two weeks before thanksgiving.
