    Default camp shoes

i finally found some camp shoes i like better than waldies.
my waldies wiegh 10.5 oz and cost 20.00 to 25.00 bucks
my new shoes wiegh less than 5oz and cost 5.00 bucks
they take up less space in my pack, plus i can still wear
socks in cooler weather with them, they are no name brand
i found them at publix super market.the no name brand on left
the waldies on the right. neo

    Default Neo,

i like those, can you ship me a pair? seriously i would like to try them, by the looks of the pic they are very similar to the Nike Usurper which in my mind has always beaten the Waldies or Crocs.
Start out slow, then slow down.

Those are really nice, and look super light, let me know how they hold up on the trail after a few uses....

It definitely pays to check out all of the cheepie shoe places and stores in your area. I found a pair of lightweight Reebok slippers at a steep discount. Beats the hell out of shoe-inserts with nylon-cord thongs.

I found a simular pair of shoes at Payless ShoeSource, and love them. They had a paif of shoes that looked exactally like crocs, jsut some nameless brand, but unfortunatly, like crocs, even their smallest size was to big for me. But, they had a pair of sandles (two straps instead of the larger one in your pic) that fit and were extremely light. I'm not sure of their exact weight, but somewhere around six or seven ounces.

    Default BIG problem with Crocs...

I took a pair of Crocs with me on my recent section hike in GA. The swivel that holds the strap came undone on one place on one shoe on my 3rd night. The outfitter store at Neels Gap (great people, were more than fair with me on everything) gave me a new pair rather than trying to repair it. Within 20 minutes of simply walking around the showers and hostel, another swivel had come off on my new pair.

I am going to take my pair to a shoe repair shop and have all 4 swivels replaced with strong rivets. In the meantime, until the manufacturer admits they have a problem and does something about it, I'd advise staying away from buying Crocs.

    Default camp shoes

I bought a pair of crocs just before I hiked for a month on the CDT (New Mexico) this spring. I'm not fond of the bulk of the crocs but they held up fine for me. I was getting blisters from my boots so I hiked in the crocs for two days. The straps are still in place but I think I could use them without the straps if need be.
