Has anyone tried sewing Tyvek? I was thinking of like an outer bag for nasty Wx for fast packing.
Yup. Love it. I like to sew stuff bags out of it for our quilts and other sundries. Works awesome! It's also my groundcloth. Our footprint is 10x8 so we need a big one. A little contact cement and she seals right up.

A piece of Tyvek is pretty handy. I don't use it for a groundcloth but it's great to spread out on the ground for lunch or taking a break - especially if its been raining and the ground is wet.

Lots of other uses for it besides that too - it comes in handy for something all the time.

I like the polycro for a ground cloth. It is very strong for the weight. I find the Tyvek is bulkier and heavier, and can be noisy.

I buy this from Amazon and cut to size:

The one thing to watch out for is you dont want to leave it out in the sun because it will shrink in direct sunlight.

    Gossamer Gear also sells it:
