Anyone have this pack, and if so, what are your experiences with it? Backpacker mag gave it an Editor's Choice award this go 'round. I read some less than flattering comments about the old G Packs, but with a pack that lightweight some people were likely overpacking it.

The 05 is redesigned, so I wanted to revisit my opinion of this pack. I'm looking for a pack around that size, and I liked the design of the old G Packs, I was just concerned about the build.

Grrickar, I have to agree with Neo, on this. The people at backpacker magazine are just like the people at J.D. Power & Associates, bought and paid for. In 00, & 01 Bacpacker gave Vasque Sundowners high rating and at about 300 miles the boots were becoming unglued starting at the toe and working their way backwards. They also said they were goretex lined, well they leaked something awful those years. They made a good product in 99 and in 00, they went down hill. What am I saying if someone gives something a good rating and that company is paying to advertise in their magazine, you had better watch out.

Backpacker magazine has become what they all become a bunch of highly paid liar's.

Hey, grrickar, i didn't mean to sound rude, I just don't care for backpacker magazine, because they really fool people into the crap that they give high rating's too, and then when I tell that they bought junk they give me dirty looks, and look at me like yeah right you think you know more they do. When the truth be told I the other experienced people here do a lot a more than they do.

I have the older G Pack (purchased in 2003) and like it for summer outings when my gear is lightest. I do like the design and more recently bought a Z Pack for other seasons. Anything above 30 lbs total weight is a bit much for the G . . . at least the model I gave . . . but the Z better accompdates 35 lbs which is about where I am, when loaded with food and water, in cool weather outings.

I could not recommend the G that I have if you anticiptae loads over 30, but if you will always be below 30, I think you'll like it.
