I've seen skins used on cuben tarps. Look on YouTube. I think one guy uses a wilderness logistics mesh python which is one rather than 2 skins. Looked sweet but mine came with a bishop bag so I use that on my zpacks cuben.

skins work well for me. Looking for something different try those bath scrubbers that women use ,you know the king that look like balled up nets with a string loop on them. Unroll them they are a ten foot long net tube that makes great skins.

I asked the fine folks at Hammock Gear about how they put their cuben fiber tarps in a stuff sack.

This is what I was told: "We actually fold our tarps a certain way. From the ridgeline, we fold it sideways once, then in half, then half again, and again, until it is about 7 - 9 inches wide, then we roll it down tightly to the guylines, then wrap the guylines over the tarp."

It works just fine doing it that way so I will take their word for it.

I love the morning wakeup factor. Also, the gentle swaying in any breeze is so much better than that kink in one's neck from sleeping without a pillow on a shelter floor!

I think that I am very interested in what you are saying, but I am unable to understand the terms. What are "mosquito net skins," "Dutch hooks lark headed to the ridge line," or a "bishop bag?" I do know "ridge line." Sorry to be so lacking in the language. And thanks for clarification.``Kinnickinic

pitched my Hammock Gear Cuben Winter Palace for the first time today. Sweet tarp. Tried out a few configuration and finally settled on a pitch with the doors closed. Then I hung my hammock and underquilt. Took a nice nap. Loved the see thru effect of the cuben. We still have a food of snow on the ground but you can smell the spring in the air. :-)

Waking up and not ready to get out of my hammock I found that paddling 7 miles to a remote island in Maine will give me a 4G signal :-)

So I am uploading my winter palace to report thumbs up.

Very durable but like any tarp it can tear under the proper conditions, cut it with knife, tree limb falls on it ect.

You can fold it or stuff it. I fold mine. Also I find that the cuben does not compress as small as a sylnylon tarp. Not a big difference but a difference.
    +1
I have the Zpacks cuben tarp with doors, very similar. I love it.
I use some skins made out of bug netting to compress mine before packing. Makes the whole process very easy, especially if setting up or taking down in rain.

Hammock Gear? no hesitation.... I love my 3/4 under-quilt!
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

They are snak skins made from bug netting. Think about what a panty hose would look like if you used it to cover your tarp while rolled up .

Hammock Gear is well made and the folks who own the company (StormCrow and ThoroWren) work very hard to make sure their customers are happy.

While I had to (laugh) "Settle" for a SuperFly ---which is excellent and a good value--- I would love to be able to afford a Hammock Gear cuben tarp. The two drawbacks to cuben are the high initial cash outlay and minor concerns about rub through.

Now, if they ever get it in camo....we will all want it!!!!
