No.........
I have owned two tents with taped seams, I have never used seam sealer on them and have had no issues.
You don't need to unless you're super paranoid or really bored
If a tree falls in the woods, be there to hear it.
Only If it is a cheap tent . Most major manufacturer tents come sealed and taped. I have been in numerous storms with kelty tents and never got wet.
If the seams are taped, there should be no need to do any additional seam sealing. In fact, applying seam sealer would be bad because it would add weight and not accomplish anything...
seam sealing no longer needs to be done on most brand name tents manufactured as of the mid-late 90's. The only real exceptions being most silnylon tarp tents (and tarps) and some regular nylon tarps. some (me ) can be anal about it and still seal the reinforcement patch corner stitchings on tents, but it is not necessary.
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....
Do it if you want. Seam tape doesn't always hold up in my experience.
usually i just use the sealer around the seams that aren't taped - sometimes they aren't able to tape the seams directly around the door or zipper.
all of us have a place in history. mine is clouds.
If the tape job is good you dont need to but I'd check the tape to be sure it's down good.
