ride to springer mtn, ga.
planning a nobo thru hike. mid marach to early april. any advice out there for transportation from south fla.
Fly to Atlanta and call Hiker Hostel www.hikerhostel.com/. Great people, will pick you up, put you to bed, feed you, give you cooking fuel, and take you to the trail.

+1 For Hiker Hostel. Also not sure where in FL you are but in 09 when I stayed at the Hostel they picked me up at the Amtrak station (I had taken the train from up north) - brought me to the hostel - brought us to town for dinner then delivered us to the trail in the AM. Good friendly people!

Just saw you are in West Palm - Amtrak lists a station there. You would go into Gainesville GA

Bus would be faster and cheaper than Amtrak. Amtrak does not run a route from the Atlanta area to Florida, you would need to connect in North Carolina.Originally Posted by Montana Mac
You could also drive 1 way out of Florida beginning on April 1. $19.99 per day for most cars, with Hertz you can drop off in Gainesville, GA.
I might be driving out of Florida to GA/NC area on April 5th (in one of those cars...), but cannot commit to anything yet.
