Default Soylent - anyone tried this?

Has anyone tried making up something like Soylent to take on their hike? Its a powder that contains the all nutritional requirements (just add water).
I know some people will be revolted by the idea but its no less enticing than having mac and cheese every day or something similar.

Good luck with that. I'll stick with mac and cheese, thank you very much.

When I want nutritional ideas, I always go to a software engineer.

What an unfortunate name for it!

I wonder ....apart from all the unfortunate connotations of the name and the idea of plastic food.
With the proper formulation, you might be in much better health with more sustained energy over a longer hike with much less hassle.
There is no real reason why it shouldnt taste ok either.

So that's what happens to the software engineers when they are done with them.

I just signed up to be a tester on his website.
I love trying new things and this sounds very interesting.

I'll let you know if I get approved and try the product.

What makes me wonder about this is how easy he dropped weight on his mix. He wasn't hiking all day, he was living a presumably normal semi-sedentary life. Running a few miles on a treadmill is not the same as hauling a pack up and down mountains. Drinking this stuff might be nutritionally complete, but will it provide enough calories?

I guess it's only the old SOBs here like us that recall the movie Soylent Green starring Charlton Heston and Edward G Robinson(his last movie before he passed away). I guess I'm missing something because I wouldn't name my alternative food product Soylent because of the possible negative association with the ideas in the movie if I wanted people to buy into my idea/product. Maybe, he should have labeled it a less controversial thing like Activated Barley.

I watched the movie many years ago. I think the name is hilarious and it would do well on a nerdy website like 'Think Geek" but not in the mainstream market.
