    Default Croc Heels

Check out the "Croc Heels" work by Scott Cawood. Scott will be showing his works at The Gilded Flea venue (scroll down a bit).

I'm trying to think what regulations would prohibit these "Crocs" from being worn on the A.T. They'd probably do more damage than a horse or a bike.

Default 41 Artists Thanks to Cynthia at Steam

There are now 41 artists participating in the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Community Art Walk !

Some will be set up at the site of the old Hilltop House Hotel.

I want to make sure that the organizer of this festival, Cynthia of Steam at Harpers Ferry, is recognized for all the work and creativity she has put into this event; also the Harpers Ferry Merchants Association and Arts and Humanities Alliance of Jefferson County (aha!).

    Here is Cynthia's press release:

Walk along the tree-lined streets, take in historic views, and check out the art! This self-guided tour will showcase artists from all over. Each participating venue has selected its own artists to feature and for everyone to enjoy. For this event, Hilltop House/SWaN Investors is permitting en plein air artists to set up easels and photographers to set up tripods along the Overlook on a first come-first served basis during the event hours. For participant information, please see

or find the event on facebook:

This event is sponsored in part by a grant from the Arts and Humanities Alliance of Jefferson County (aha!) and in cooperation with the Harpers Ferry Merchants Association.

Default Ron's photos are on display!

Ron has his photos set up in the visitor center for the Harpers Ferry Art Walk. He brought his wife, Diane, a '97 thru-hiker. (Ron thru-hiked in 1987). They also hiked a thousand miles of the A.T. in 2010.

He has photographs of the footpath, an incredible Springer picture with alpenglow on the plaque, photos of lady's-slippers, trillium, a cool shot out the window of the Smarts Mountain firetower, and others. Come check them out tomorrow or Sunday.

Sunday at 1:00 Ron is giving a talk on photographing in the backcountry.

There are beautiful pictures on display at the ATC! The lucky volunteers are getting some great iPhone photography tips. Looking forward to Ron's backcountry photography talk tomorrow at 1 PM.

Excellent day learning from Ron Roman at the ATC - he is a wealth of knowledge about photography. Tomorrow (4/28/2013) at 1 PM he will be giving a presentation on photography in the back country. I hope to see you all there.
