LT Resupply Plan

I'm planning a NOBO starting early july and I'm looking for some comments
1st stop: manchester center -grocery stores for some stuff, maybe USPS mail drop
2nd stop: rutland -grocery store, USPS mail drop for dehydrated goods
3rd: middlebury -grocery store, maybe USPS mail drop
4th: jonesville -groceries, Maybe mail drop
5th: johnson -groceries, USPS mail drop

There's just a post office in Jonesville now, no store anymore. You can hitch on Rte 2 West to Richmond or East to Waterbury, both have groceries.

If you're doing a mail drop in Middlebury and don't need a major grocery, the E. Middlebury PO is closer, and the stores have the basics.

The hitch hike to the post office from the trailhead is not easy as the road is not too frequented and the hike on the pavement is no fun.

I hiked sobo and did:

1. Jonesville
2. Johnson
3. Waitsfield
4. Manchester Center

SOBO 2007. Same as 10-k but also stopped in Middlebury(it was raining, wanted to sit in on that private school graduation with all the hoity toity types in attendance - movie star's, Saudi Arabian Sheik's, pro athlete's etc children, got kicked out eventually), Stowe(have some friends who lived there), and Rutland(I like The 12 Tribes Hostel and Food).

You don't say anything about your style, experience, fitness, age, etc., so who knows, but on the surface of things that's a pretty reasonable plan, or fairly ordinary anyway.

The posts above deal with the wrinkles in the other towns, but nobody's mentioned yet that Johnson hasn't had a grocery story since August of 2011. You'll need to hitch to Morrisville, about 10 miles east.

If you are moving fast, you could condense the Jonesville/Johnson stops into just one, in Stowe, about halfway between. Lots of people do, then again lots of people don't. Just a matter of pacing & preference.
