    Default Overnight in Damascus

A buddy and I are planning to drive to Damascus on Aug 15, arriving very late (like 11 PM - midnight).
We already have a shuttle arranged for the next day, but where would be the best place to stay overnight? We would be arriving very late and leaving pretty early. Just looking for a quiet place to get some sleep. Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you'd like to share.

Probably "The Place", a hostel directly behind the Methodist Church in the center of town. It's always open so you'll be able to walk in without checking in with anyone.

There's a sign in front so you can't miss it. You can get a hot shower but bring your own bedding.

Throw your tent up on the side of Dave's Place across from Mt.Rogers outfitters... I doubt they'd care at all...

Call Dave's or Woodchuck Hostel and try to arrange for a late arrival to see if you can put up a tent, or if they'll have someone available that late to take care of you. Couldn't hurt, and it's better to ask first than to assume.

    Woodchuck Hostel: (406) 407-1272

head out of town on 58 for 3 miles or so. stop at the first creeper trail parking lot on the right. there is parking and pit toilets. there is a sign that says the gates are closed at 10 pm, but we've been there literally dozens of times after 10 and had no issues. head up the creeper (left) and you come to several campsites on your left after a hundred yards or so.
