    he was 12 miles away in Abingdon at some folks house. he befriended them on the Creeper trail. i talked at length with the couple yesterday

    Abington PA is a suburb of Philly and Abington MA is a suburb of MA, so if you do a google search on homicides in Abington you are not going to find anything in VA. The only online news outlet that covers Abington VA (Washington County) is Southwestern VA news. The only thing that seems to be thru hiker related was that goofball driving thru Trail Days in Damascus. Nothing major happened in Abington. If it was murder it would have made front page headlines.

    Sounds like natural causes. Hopefully it was and the guy did not have any pain.

    The town I think you are referring to is Abing-D-on,Va. Which is just west of Damascus, Va. US of A

    so saddened to hear about this young man, all my sympathies to his family, my son was also killed on the trail so i know what they are going thro, my heart goes out to them.

    This hiker died of natural causes. His sister called me a couple of months back to tell me that the autopsy said his heart just stopped and there were no drugs in his system
