We hiked the AT except for side trails to take us to places to tent.
The first day we stopped at the campground adjacent to Mizpah (spelling?)Hut.
Second day we stopped at an RMC site northbound of Mt. Washington.
Third night we stayed at Valley Way camp site. When you get to Madison Spring hut make a left and hike down hill.
Fourth night found us at a camping site called Osgood, or Osborn, or something like that.
And then we finished at the AMC visitor center in Pinkham notch.

While we didn't stay at any of the huts we got water at Mizpah ,bought lunch at Lake Of The Clouds, and scored free breakfast at Madison Springs.
Our first day it was pouring rain. The second day of the trip was the same so we took a zero day at the campsite. Third day was perrrrrfect weather to go over Mt. Washington. Next 2 days were OK with small rain showers in the afternoons.
Enjoy your trip, it's jaw dropping beautiful!
LIHikers, Can you provide any more info on the "RMC site northbound of Mt. Washington"?

I thought this sounded doable. Bagging summits is not a huge concern, trying to make it a three night hike.
    Day one
Crawford path from highland center to mizpah or nauman (skipping Jackson)
    Day two
AT/Crawford path(Pierce,Monroe,Eisenhower) to Lakes of the Clouds Hut
    Day three
AT/Crawford/Gulfside trail(Washington,Jefferson,Adams) to Valley way tentsite or Madison Spring Hut
    Day four
Madison Gulf trail to Pinkham Notch Visitor center

Very doable, as long as the weather cooperates. Being on the ridge in a thunderstorm is a very bad idea. You could likely also bag summits over four days, if you were so inclined.

A few years ago, Golden Waldo shuttled my son and me from Gorham, where we left a car, to Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, where we began our hike. All went well.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I'll have to dig out our maps to find the name of it, so be patient.

I couldn't find our maps of the Whites, but my wife says it was called The Perch. We used one of the tent platforms.

The Perch, Crag Camp, the Log Cabin and Gray Knob. I believe Gray and Crag are small huts, which operate on caretaker basis (bring and cook your own food). The other two are shelters like so many on the A.T. I've been to none but hope to make a visit this year in taking in the northern Presi's.
