Default Weekend Hike in GA ???

Hi, I am new to the forum and had a question. I am going next weekend with 2 or 3 buddies up to GA to hike/camp. We have done some trail hiking in the mountains but only day hiking, and we have done multiple nights in FL. We are all fairly young and in reasonably good shape. I have been trying to find a good route for us to take but I am having a hard time coming up with a good hike in our time frame. Unfortunatly we only have three days. We will be getting on the trail early Saturday morning and we would like to be out by 1:00 or so Monday. Any suggestions for a decent hike in that time frame? Hopeing to go somewhere around Springer or Blood mountain. Thanks! Looking forward to becoming an active member on this forum!

I would consider doing the standing indian loop which is just over the border in NC. It's about 27 miles and you can park and hike back to your vehicle.
Pain is a by-product of a good time.

There's a nice loop that goes from Springer to Three Forks and back ... take the AT and the Benton MacKaye and it creates a nice 'figure 8 loop' ... you can leave your car at Amicalola Falls Parking area and climb the approach trail, spend the night on Springer, do the figure 8 to Three Forks, camp the night, then back to Springer and back down the approach trail.

Or you can leave your car at Springer Parking Lot and start the Figure 8 from Springer if you don't have the extra night. Gives you time to take a dip at Long Creek Falls, too.

The Chattahoochee National Forest Map shows both trails.

The Standing Indian loop mentioned above is a good one, although it is in NC.

You could do Springer to Woody Gap if you have 2 cars.

That is great guys! Thank you so much! I think we are going to try Standing Indian Loop. It is only 45 minutes longer to get there and sounds like it is exactly what we need to do to start us on a long AT Hiking career. I will post pictures and report back after the trip.
