I got it. I tried to quote both of you but it didn't come out that way.

I have a funny (sort of) condom buying situation that happened to me on one of my hikes but won't go into it.

I didn't understand the mushroom part of it though, unless it's about the girl who was tripping and got naked and someone called the rescue team.

Was just in Lake City this fall. Mags, decided I had to try to get to Lake City on a rainy and cold early afternoon after I felt you laid down a personal challenge to me when you stated in your CT End to End Guide it was a hard hitch from Spring Creek Pass. Third car over the pass took me into Lake City. All of 10 mins getting a ride. Second car leaving Lake City took me almost all the way back to the pass. All of 5 mins. Got another hitch from that pt to the pass on the first car that passed me where the first car out of LC left me off. All of 2 mins. Wasn't a hard hitch either way with all the leaf peepers in the fall. But then again I am better looking than you Mags and I don't wear no Watch Cap.

All in LC is within a short walk. Small grocery store on one end of town had much of what hikers eat already. General store on the end of town has some food and a varied assortment of everything from tampons to Ramen. Small Health Food store, with some yummy bakery goods. Various restaurants. Malto is covered; ice cream served already at a small shop. Pizza shop. Post Office(w/ sat hrs). Visitor's Center. Campground/RV park with showers(ask). Library with internet. Very good coffee/small cafe that serves up yummy sandwiches and soups with some yummy delish bakery goods which is literally next door to Raven's Rest Hostel. Raven's Rest has reasonable rates, dorm bunks, a kitchen, is clean, is super hiker friendly, and is owned and managed by a previous thru-hiker(I think AT/PCT) and his wife. Cool place with cool owners that should be supported by hikers and travelers! Makes a great base from which to explore the town and area. Couple a B&B's and a hotel. You can look for canisters at the Fly shop which also has some maps and possibly the General Store. Saw HEET sold at Grocery store. Hostel also has a hiker box. Nice short river walk in town as well as oodles of local and state history. Nice lakes in the area. i took a zero in LC. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it didn't break my hiker budget. I liked it so much and thought it deserved greater consideration by hikers that I gave businesses and the Ravens Rest Hostel your contact info Mags. I made a pt of telling the General Store Owner/Mngr and the Grocery Store Operators your contact info Mags, maybe they are just getting around to contacting you.

Had a nice book/keepsake store(also has some CT NAT GEO TI maps) owner give me her personal headphones for my MP3 player without charge. She wouldn't let me pay for them. I agreed to mail her new ones once I got to a larger town. Sent her a nice thank you with new headphones. LC is areal quaint compact town perfect for someone on foot or bike. Ravens Rest Hostel had a few loaner bikes.
